Hello Everyone!
This blog post will hopefully help you find an internship/remind you of their deadlines. For the websites Handshake and Nevada careers, you will have to create an account before you can apply (although it does not take long at all). For deadlines that say N/A, their deadline was not able to be found, so turn in those sooner rather than later. This is sadly the last weekly email I will be sending you all. Please read it, and I hope you made hours this semester because you will be considered a candidate next semester if you don't. Social: Please do not forget that the bowling social is Tomorrow, starting at 9pm at the GSR! If you would like to come, please RSVP at the following link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/gsr-bowling-social-tickets-33673815288 This will be free for those who attend, and appetizers will be provided while we bowl as long as at least half of the members that sign up are not current officers! If you need a ride to the social, please email me so that you are able to attend. This will be a fun way to end the year and get to know other members in BAP. Although it is a fun event, don't forget that it is a great networking opportunity to meet people who may be associated with firms that you are interested in! President: FINAL MEMBER MEETING will be this Wednesday at 12:00 in AB 101. Reporter: Everyone needs 400 minutes of professional and community service activities. Community Service: Visit unr.givepulse.com if you are interested in a community service opportunity! There are many events to choose from, so if you are low on hours this is an easy option to make your hours this semester. Similarly CPAs obtain a state specific license. Traditionally this provided accountability and confidence that the services provided were in accordance with specific state laws.
The changing landscape and environment are challenging these traditional practices and the lines dividing states that restrict which firm or CPA can provide services and where are beginning to fade. The AICPA and NASBA have been developing what is known as the Uniform Accountancy Act (NRS 628.335 for Nevada) which would allow firms and CPAs to cross these lines and provide services in states in which they are not registered or licensed. Currently cloud services allow for the technologically capable firm and business to communicate, provide supporting materials and documentation entirely through an internet connection without physically making a presence on-site. This is the business world trying to keep up with all the tools and resources technology is providing. What will this mean for the future of the Accounting professional? It might be worth a young professionals time to consider where the profession will be in the next decade and decide how best to prepare.
