Hope your first day back to school went great! The Officers have a full semester planned, and it's looking to be our best semester yet! Here are a few updates to kick off the week.... President: Our first member meeting will be Wednesday September 7th from 12:00-12:50 in AB 201! Membership: Nathan sent out an email earlier this afternoon explaining the Recruiment Events for new members and members who want to participate. Please pay attentions to his emails for further updates and instructions. Attached is the talking points to mention for those who have volunteered for the classroom discussions this week! BAP Talking Points.docx Community Service: Junior Achievement: Yay for JA! For those of you that want to fulfill your community service hours this semester through Junior Achievement please email Ally if you would like to participate at [email protected]In your email, please let Ally know if you would like to partner up with other BAP member and their name (up to 3 partners) and if you prefer a school or a specific teacher as well! Check the excel sheet attached below of the schools and teachers participating and which one you would like, if not you will be assigned one. 2016-17 open report.xls I will need all of you to fill out some volunteer forms for JA once you decide and we can coordinate a time to get together and fill these out. Give Back, Get Back recruitment event with JA At this event we are offering one hour of community service if you attend and help out so please attend if you can! Also, if you are planning on doing JA and need to fill out the forms Ally will bring printed out forms to the event. Let her know if you will be filling out your forms there. All should try and come out, it will be lots fun and will include snacks :) DogFest Walk ‘N Roll: Canine Companion Event Our first community service event this month! This event is on September 18th from 8:30am until 12:30 pm on UNR’s campus. However, for this event we all have to individually register as a volunteer at the link below and then we can go together as a group! You all can just text Ally that to make it easier! 707-292-1363 Lastly, keep an eye out for future weekly emails to sign up for the tutoring and proctoring sessions coming up through Eventbrite! Social Activities: Intramural sports is underway for the Fall semester! We would like everyone's input for what their preferred sport is for us to participate in this semester. Our options are Volleyball (Season from September 12-29), Outdoor Soccer (Season from Oct 17 - Nov 17), and Basketball (Season from Oct 17 - Nov 17). Please email Alexa at [email protected] with your sport selection. Registration deadlines are fast approaching, so please email her by Friday, September 2 with your selection! We are excited for everyone to get out there and have some fun! Our first social will be on Tuesday, September 6th from 5:30PM-6:30PM. It is an ice cream social with UNR accounting staff and prospective BAP members. This is a great opportunity to reconnect with members, and get to know prospective members and share with them why joining BAP is a great choice! Stop by for some sweet treats! This social will account for 3 Social Points! We hope to see you there! Public Relations: Recruitment Week profile pictures and cover photos have been posted on Facebook. Please share, if you can, to spread awareness of the many events we have coming up! Also, attached is a new spreadsheet for study group sign ups! Only a few updates for you… SOCIAL ACTIVITIES: Intramural playoffs start tomorrow! Our first game is at 8pm and if we win tomorrow we'll have a game on Thursday at 9pm. Please keep RSVPing to the Spring BBQ that will be on May 7th at 1pm. The RSVP on the Zeta Iota website will close on Sunday, May 1st at midnight. PUBLIC RELATIONS: Our last PR committee meeting is Friday, April 29th at 4pm in KC Study Room 426! Please send me an RSVP email so I can print SlideShow notes! PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES: Deloitte Luncheon on Wednesday, April 27th at 12pm in AB 108! The Internal Competition is Saturday, April 30th at 2pm in the Wells Fargo Auditorium in the KC! PRESIDENT: At our next Member Meeting on April 18th at 7pm we will be holding elections for officer positions. Please remember to complete the required steps if you are planning on running for election. TREASURER: The Treasury committee will be meeting Wednesday, April 13th from 12:00 to 12:50 PM in room 426 of the KC. If you are interested in running for the Treasurer position please try to make it to this meeting. Becker Professional Education has two events coming up in the next few weeks. The first event is a Mock Exam on Friday, April 22nd beginning at 12:00 PM in room AB 110. This is a beneficial event for all students regardless if they are graduating this Spring or in the future. Becker will be raffling off prizes and answering any questions that you may have. EVERY STUDENT WHO ATTENDS IS ELIGIBLE FOR 50% OFF THE BECKER PROGRAM. You can stop by during any time of this event and utilize all resources Becker has. There will also be snacks and supplies for finals. Spring Banquet is on April 21st at 6pm! This is a MANDATORY event! COMMUNITY SERVICE: We have the ACC 201 Review session this Sunday at 7-9 PM on campus in room AB 108. Remember, this will be the last opportunity to receive the 2 required torturing hours you need to stay in good standing with the chapter. Attached is the study guide and practice questions. The practice question answers will be send out by Kevin to the members that are signed up on the Zeta Iota website on Friday. TREASURER: The Treasury Committee Meeting that was previously scheduled for March 16th is currently being rescheduled due to a conflict with the Grant Thornton Luncheon. Once the date has been selected an email will be sent out. We will be partnering with BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse on Monday, March 28th at both their Reno and Sparks locations to celebrate Zeta Iota's birthday! All funds will go toward sending members to the Annual Meeting this year. Please see the attached flyers for this fundraiser and spread the word to family and friends in the area.
